Ch 9Verse 33
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 33

किं पुनर्ब्राह्मणाः पुण्या भक्ता राजर्षयस्तथा | अनित्यमसुखं लोकमिमं प्राप्य भजस्व माम् || ३३ ||

kiṃ punar brāhmaṇāḥ puṇyā bhaktā rājarṣayas tathā | anityam asukhaṃ lokam imaṃ prāpya bhajasva mām || 33 ||

"How much more this is so of the righteous brahmanas, the devotees and the saintly kings. Therefore, having come to this temporary, miserable world, engage in loving service unto Me."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Connecting to the previous verse, Krishna states a logical conclusion: If even those of lower societal births can attain the supreme destination, then how much more (kiṃ punar) is it assured for the righteous, pious priests (brāhmaṇāḥ puṇyā), pure devotees (bhaktā), and saintly kings (rājarṣayas tathā)? He then issues the ultimate, pragmatic call to action: Having attained or arrived in (prāpya) this specific world (lokam imaṃ), which is by definition temporary/fleeting (anityam) and miserable/joyless (asukhaṃ), you must worship and serve Me (bhajasva mām).
