Ch 9Verse 32
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 32

मां हि पार्थ व्यपाश्रित्य येऽपि स्युः पापयोनयः | स्त्रियो वैश्यास्तथा शूद्रास्तेऽपि यान्ति परां गतिम् || ३२ ||

māṃ hi pārtha vyapāśritya ye 'pi syuḥ pāpa-yonayaḥ | striyo vaiśyās tathā śūdrās te 'pi yānti parāṃ gatim || 32 ||

"O son of Pritha, those who take shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth—women, vaisyas [merchants] and sudras [workers]—can attain the supreme destination."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna makes a profound sociological and spiritual declaration. He says to Arjuna (pārtha) that anyone who takes complete shelter in Him (māṃ hi vyapāśritya), even if they are born into socially marginalized or less advantageous conditions (ye 'pi syuḥ pāpa-yonayaḥ)—specifically mentioning women (striyo), merchants/agriculturalists (vaiśyās), and the laboring class (śūdrās)—they too (te 'pi) absolutely attain the highest, supreme destination (yānti parāṃ gatim).
