Ch 9Verse 31
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 31

क्षिप्रं भवति धर्मात्मा शश्वच्छान्तिं निगच्छति | कौन्तेय प्रतिजानीहि न मे भक्तः प्रणश्यति || ३१ ||

kṣipraṃ bhavati dharmātmā śaśvac-chāntiṃ nigacchati | kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati || 31 ||

"He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O son of Kunti, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Following the previous verse regarding the sinful person who turns to God, Krishna states the immediate result. He declares that such a person very swiftly or rapidly (kṣipraṃ) transforms into a completely righteous soul (bhavati dharmātmā). As a result, they attain eternal, everlasting peace (śaśvac-chāntiṃ nigacchati). Krishna then gives Arjuna a direct command: O son of Kunti (kaunteya), boldly declare and promise (pratijānīhi) to the world that My true devotee never falls into ruin or perishes (na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati).
