Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

In one of the most famous and comforting verses of the entire Bhagavad Gita, Krishna shifts from those who seek heavenly rewards to His pure devotees. He declares: But those individuals (ye janāḥ) who meditate on Me and worship Me perfectly (cintayanto māṃ paryupāsate) with exclusive, undivided attention (ananyāś)—for those who are thus constantly engaged and united with Me (teṣāṃ nityābhiyuktānāṃ), I personally carry and provide (vahāmy aham) their 'yoga' (supplying what they lack) and their 'kṣemaṃ' (preserving and protecting what they already possess).
