Ch 9Verse 15
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 15

ज्ञानयज्ञेन चाप्यन्ये यजन्तो मामुपासते | एकत्वेन पृथक्त्वेन बहुधा विश्वतोमुखम् || १५ ||

jñāna-yajñena cāpy anye yajanto mām upāsate | ekatvena pṛthaktvena bahudhā viśvato-mukham || 15 ||

"Others, who engage in sacrifice by the cultivation of knowledge, worship the Supreme Lord as the one without a second, as diverse in many, and in the universal form."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna expands the scope of how seekers approach Him. He explains that there are others (anye) who worship and approach Him (mām upāsate) by offering the sacrifice of knowledge (jñāna-yajñena). They conceive of Him and worship Him in three primary ways: as absolute oneness without a second (ekatvena), as diverse and distinct in many forms and entities (pṛthaktvena), and as the universal, all-pervading cosmic form facing all directions (bahudhā viśvato-mukham).
