Ch 9Verse 13
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 13

महात्मानस्तु मां पार्थ दैवीं प्रकृतिमाश्रिताः | भजन्त्यनन्यमनसो ज्ञात्वा भूतादिमव्ययम् || १३ ||

mahātmānas tu māṃ pārtha daivīṃ prakṛtim āśritāḥ | bhajanty ananya-manaso jñātvā bhūtādim avyayam || 13 ||

"O son of Pritha, those who are not deluded, the great souls, are under the protection of the divine nature. They are fully engaged in devotional service because they know Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, original and inexhaustible."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

In sharp contrast to the deluded individuals of the previous verses, Krishna now introduces the 'Mahātmās' (the great souls). He tells Arjuna (pārtha) that these great souls have taken shelter of the divine, spiritual energy (daivīṃ prakṛtim āśritāḥ), rather than the deluding material energy. Because they have perfectly understood (jñātvā) that He is the imperishable, original source of all creation (bhūtādim avyayam), they worship and serve Him (bhajanty) with an unswerving, single-minded focus (ananya-manaso).
