Ch 9Verse 11
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 11

अवजानन्ति मां मूढा मानुषीं तनुमाश्रितम् | परं भावमजानन्तो मम भूतमहेश्वरम् || ११ ||

avajānanti māṃ mūḍhā mānuṣīṃ tanum āśritam | paraṃ bhāvam ajānanto mama bhūta-maheśvaram || 11 ||

"Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna addresses the tragedy of spiritual blindness. He states that foolish, deluded individuals (mūḍhā) despise, mock, or disregard Him (avajānanti māṃ) when He assumes or shelters Himself within a human-like form (mānuṣīṃ tanum āśritam). They commit this grave error because they are completely ignorant of His higher, transcendental nature (paraṃ bhāvam ajānanto) and fail to recognize Him as the Great Supreme Lord of all existing beings (mama bhūta-maheśvaram).
