Ch 9Verse 10
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 10

मयाध्यक्षेण प्रकृतिः सूयते सचराचरम् | हेतुनानेन कौन्तेय जगद्विपरिवर्तते || १० ||

mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ sūyate sa-carācaram | hetunānena kaunteya jagad viparivartate || 10 ||

"This material nature, which is one of My energies, is working under My direction, O son of Kunti, producing all moving and nonmoving beings. Under its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna brings the explanation of creation to its climax. He declares that material nature (prakṛtiḥ), acting under His supreme supervision and direction (mayādhyakṣeṇa), brings forth and produces (sūyate) all entities, both moving and non-moving (sa-carācaram). O son of Kunti (kaunteya), it is precisely due to this reason—His conscious supervision—that the cosmic universe (jagad) revolves, functions, and continues its cycle of changes (viparivartate).
