Ch 9Verse 9
Adhyāya 9 Shloka 9

न च मां तानि कर्माणि निबध्नन्ति धनञ्जय | उदासीनवदासीनमसक्तं तेषु कर्मसु || ९ ||

na ca māṃ tāni karmāṇi nibadhnanti dhanañjaya | udāsīna-vad āsīnam asaktaṃ teṣu karmasu || 9 ||

"O Dhananjaya, all this work cannot bind Me. I am ever detached from all these material activities, seated as though neutral."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Having described the monumental task of repeatedly creating and annihilating billions of universes, Krishna reveals His internal state regarding this work. He addresses Arjuna (dhanañjaya) and declares that none of these colossal cosmic activities (tāni karmāṇi) entangle or bind Him (na ca māṃ nibadhnanti). Why? Because He remains completely unattached (asaktaṃ) to the actions, situated perfectly as an impartial, neutral witness (udāsīna-vad āsīnam).
