Ch 8Verse 21
Adhyāya 8 Shloka 21

अव्यक्तोऽक्षर इत्युक्तस्तमाहु: परमां गतिम् | यं प्राप्य न निवर्तन्ते तद्धाम परमं मम || २१ ||

avyakto 'kṣara ity uktas tam āhuḥ paramāṃ gatim | yaṃ prāpya na nivartante tad dhāma paramaṃ mama || 21 ||

"That which the Vedantists describe as unmanifest and infallible, that which is known as the supreme destination, that place from which, having attained it, one never returns—that is My supreme abode."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna explicitly defines the ultimate destination that He introduced in Verse 20. He states: That specific state which is declared and spoken of as the unmanifest and the imperishable (avyakto 'kṣara ity uktas), that very same state the great sages call the absolute highest and supreme destination (tam āhuḥ paramāṃ gatim). Having reached and attained that specific realm (yaṃ prāpya), souls never return to the material world (na nivartante). That is My supreme, ultimate abode and residence (tad dhāma paramaṃ mama).
