Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna concludes this sequence by delivering the exact, step-by-step bio-mechanical and psychological protocol for the moment of death. He instructs: At the exact time of departure (prayāṇa-kāle), the Yogi must possess a completely unmoving, unshaken mind (manasācalena). They must be utterly saturated and yoked with intense devotion and love (bhaktyā yukto). Utilizing the sheer power and strength accumulated through years of Yoga practice (yoga-balena ca eva), they must perfectly and completely fix their life-force or Prana (prāṇam āveśya samyak) right in the center between the two eyebrows (bhruvor madhye). Executing this flawless exit, that person absolutely attains (sa upaiti) that Supreme, Divine, Radiant Person (taṃ paraṃ puruṣam divyam).
