Continuing the majestic catalog of His presence, Krishna moves to the element of earth and fire. He says: I am the pure, original, and sacred fragrance within the earth (puṇyo gandhaḥ pṛthivyāṃ ca). I am the brilliant heat and radiant energy within fire (tejaś cāsmi vibhāvasau). I am the very life-force and vitality sustaining all living beings (jīvanaṃ sarva-bhūteṣu), and I am the fierce discipline and penance within all ascetics and yogis (tapaś cāsmi tapasviṣu).
