Krishna brings the abstract 'string' from Verse 7 down to the tactile, everyday reality of the five senses. He says: O son of Kunti, I am the fundamental taste and liquid essence in water (raso 'ham apsu). I am the radiant light in both the moon and the sun (prabhāsmi śaśi-sūryayoḥ). I am the sacred syllable 'Om' in all the Vedic mantras (praṇavaḥ sarva-vedeṣu). I am the very phenomenon of sound vibrating in space/ether (śabdaḥ khe), and I am the inherent ability, skill, and prowess found within human beings (pauruṣaṃ nṛṣu).
