Ch 7Verse 7
Adhyāya 7 Shloka 7

मत्त: परतरं नान्यत्किञ्चिदस्ति धनञ्जय | मयि सर्वमिदं प्रोतं सूत्रे मणिगणा इव || ७ ||

mattaḥ parataraṃ nānyat kiñcid asti dhanañjaya | mayi sarvam idaṃ protaṃ sūtre maṇi-gaṇā iva || 7 ||

"O conqueror of wealth, there is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna makes an absolute, unchallengeable claim to supremacy, followed by a stunning visual metaphor. He declares: O Arjuna, conqueror of wealth (dhanañjaya), there is absolutely nothing else whatsoever (nānyat kiñcid asti) that is higher, superior, or beyond Me (mattaḥ parataraṃ). This entire universe and everything in it (sarvam idaṃ) is strung, woven, and rests entirely upon Me (mayi protaṃ). How? Exactly like clusters of pearls strung together upon a single thread (sūtre maṇi-gaṇā iva).
