Adhyāya 7 Shloka 28

येषां त्वन्तगतं पापं जनानां पुण्यकर्मणाम् | ते द्वन्द्वमोहनिर्मुक्ता भजन्ते मां दृढव्रता: || २८ ||

yeṣāṃ tv anta-gataṃ pāpaṃ janānāṃ puṇya-karmaṇām | te dvandva-moha-nirmuktā bhajante māṃ dṛḍha-vratāḥ || 28 ||

"Persons who have acted piously in previous lives and in this life and whose sinful actions are completely eradicated are freed from the dualities of delusion, and they engage in My service with determination."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna immediately provides the cure for the biological trap described in Verse 27. He says: But (tu) for those persons whose sinful, toxic actions and karmic dirt have come to a complete end (yeṣāṃ anta-gataṃ pāpaṃ), who are performers of pure, pious, and virtuous deeds (janānāṃ puṇya-karmaṇām)—those specific individuals become utterly liberated and freed from the delusion of dualities (te dvandva-moha-nirmuktā). Having broken the illusion, they worship and serve Me (bhajante māṃ) with fierce, iron-clad determination and unyielding vows (dṛḍha-vratāḥ).
