Ch 7Verse 27
Adhyāya 7 Shloka 27

इच्छाद्वेषसमुत्थेन द्वन्द्वमोहेन भारत | सर्वभूतानि सम्मोहं सर्गे यान्ति परन्तप || २७ ||

icchā-dveṣa-samutthena dvandva-mohena bhārata | sarva-bhūtāni sammohaṃ sarge yānti paran-tapa || 27 ||

"O scion of Bharata, O conqueror of the foe, all living entities are born into delusion, bewildered by dualities arisen from desire and hate."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna diagnoses the exact moment the soul becomes trapped in the matrix. He declares: O descendant of Bharata (bhārata), O conqueror of enemies (paran-tapa), all living entities (sarva-bhūtāni) fall into complete bewilderment and illusion (sammohaṃ yānti) at the very moment of their birth and creation into this material world (sarge). What causes this bewilderment? It is the delusion of dualities (dvandva-mohena) that are born and spring directly from desire and hatred (icchā-dveṣa-samutthena).
