Ch 7Verse 25
Adhyāya 7 Shloka 25

नाहं प्रकाश: सर्वस्य योगमायासमावृत: | मूढोऽयं नाभिजानाति लोको मामजमव्ययम् || २५ ||

nāhaṃ prakāśaḥ sarvasya yoga-māyā-samāvṛtaḥ | mūḍho 'yaṃ nābhijānāti loko mām ajam avyayam || 25 ||

"I am never manifest to the foolish and unintelligent. For them I am covered by My internal potency, and therefore they do not know that I am unborn and infallible."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna concludes this sequence by explaining exactly why the Absolute remains hidden from the masses. He declares: I am not manifest, visible, or revealed (nāhaṃ prakāśaḥ) to absolutely everyone (sarvasya). Why? Because I am perfectly concealed, veiled, and covered (samāvṛtaḥ) by My own divine, mystic potency and illusion (yoga-māyā). Because of this impenetrable veil, this bewildered, foolish world (mūḍho 'yaṃ loko) completely fails to recognize or comprehend Me (nābhijānāti mām) as the One who is fundamentally unborn (ajam) and eternally inexhaustible (avyayam).
