Ch 7Verse 22
Adhyāya 7 Shloka 22

स तया श्रद्धया युक्तस्तस्याराधनमीहते | लभते च तत: कामान्मयैव विहितान्हि तान् || २२ ||

sa tayā śraddhayā yuktas tasyārādhanam īhate | labhate ca tataḥ kāmān mayaiva vihitān hi tān || 22 ||

"Endowed with such a faith, he endeavors to worship a particular demigod and obtains his desires. But in actuality, these benefits are bestowed by Me alone."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna pulls back the curtain on how cosmic rewards are actually distributed. He explains: Endowed and equipped with that specific, steadied faith (sa tayā śraddhayā yuktas), the person strives and endeavors to worship that particular demigod or entity (tasyārādhanam īhate). Consequently, they successfully obtain and receive their desired objects and results from that entity (labhate ca tataḥ kāmān). However, the absolute truth is that those specific benefits and rewards are actually ordained, arranged, and bestowed strictly by Me alone (mayaiva vihitān hi tān).
