Ch 7Verse 15
Adhyāya 7 Shloka 15

न मां दुष्कृतिनो मूढा: प्रपद्यन्ते नराधमा: | माययापहृतज्ञाना आसुरं भावमाश्रिता: || १५ ||

na māṃ duṣkṛtino mūḍhāḥ prapadyante narādhamāḥ | māyayāpahṛta-jñānā āsuraṃ bhāvam āśritāḥ || 15 ||

"Those miscreants who are grossly foolish, who are lowest among mankind, whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons do not surrender unto Me."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Having established that 'surrender' is the only escape route in Verse 14, Krishna now gives a brutal, clinical diagnosis of those who absolutely refuse to take that route. He lists four specific categories of people who do not surrender to Him (na māṃ prapadyante). They are: 1. The foolish/stubbornly ignorant workers of wickedness (duṣkṛtino mūḍhāḥ). 2. The lowest and most degraded among mankind (narādhamāḥ). 3. Those whose intellect and true knowledge have been completely hijacked and stolen by illusion (māyayāpahṛta-jñānā). 4. Those who have actively taken refuge in a demonic, atheistic, and cruel nature (āsuraṃ bhāvam āśritāḥ).
