Adhyāya 6 Shloka 45

प्रयत्नाद्यतमानस्तु योगी संशुद्धकिल्बिष: | अनेकजन्मसंसिद्धस्ततो याति परां गतिम् || ४५ ||

prayatnād yatamānas tu yogī saṃśuddha-kilbiṣaḥ | aneka-janma-saṃsiddhas tato yāti parāṃ gatim || 45 ||

"And when the yogi engages himself with sincere endeavor in making further progress, being washed of all contaminations, then ultimately, achieving perfection after many, many births of practice, he attains the supreme goal."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna describes the final, victorious culmination of this multi-life process. But (tu) when that Yogi continually strives and endeavors with massive, intense effort (prayatnād yatamānas), they become entirely washed, purified, and scrubbed clean of all sins and karmic dirt (saṃśuddha-kilbiṣaḥ). Having accumulated and achieved perfection over the course of many, many lifetimes (aneka-janma-saṃsiddhas), it is from that point (tato) that the Yogi finally reaches the supreme, ultimate destination (yāti parāṃ gatim).
