श्रीभगवानुवाच | पार्थ नैवेह नामुत्र विनाशस्तस्य विद्यते | न हि कल्याणकृत्कश्चिद्दुर्गतिं तात गच्छति || ४० ||

śrī-bhagavān uvāca | pārtha naiveha nāmutra vināśas tasya vidyate | na hi kalyāṇa-kṛt kaścid durgatiṃ tāta gacchati || 40 ||

"The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Son of Pritha, a transcendentalist engaged in auspicious activities does not meet with destruction either in this world or in the spiritual world; one who does good, My friend, is never overcome by evil."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna delivers his thunderous, absolute guarantee. He responds with deep affection: O son of Pritha (pārtha), absolutely never (na eva) does destruction or ruin (vināśas) exist for that person (tasya vidyate), neither here in this material world (iha) nor in the next spiritual world (nāmutra). Why? Krishna gives the universal law: Because absolutely no one (na hi kaścid) who performs good, auspicious, and purifying actions (kalyāṇa-kṛt) ever goes to a bad destination, degradation, or ruin (durgatiṃ gacchati), My dear friend (tāta).
