Ch 6Verse 39
Adhyāya 6 Shloka 39

एतन्मे संशयं कृष्ण छेत्तुमर्हस्यशेषत: | त्वदन्य: संशयस्यास्य छेत्ता न ह्युपपद्यते || ३९ ||

etan me saṃśayaṃ kṛṣṇa chettum arhasy aśeṣataḥ | tvad-anyaḥ saṃśayasyāsya chettā na hy upapadyate || 39 ||

"This is my doubt, O Krishna, and I ask You to clear it up completely. But for You, no one is to be found who can destroy this doubt."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna makes his final, desperate plea for clarity, submitting entirely to Krishna's authority. He says: O Krishna, this is my deep doubt and uncertainty (etan me saṃśayaṃ). It is proper and fitting for You to slash and destroy it (chettum arhasi), completely and without leaving any residue (aśeṣataḥ). Why? Because other than You (tvad-anyaḥ), there is absolutely no one to be found (na hy upapadyate) who is capable of destroying or cutting away this doubt (saṃśayasyāsya chettā).
