Ch 6Verse 22
Adhyāya 6 Shloka 22

यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते नाधिकं तत: | यस्मिन्स्थितो न दु:खेन गुरुणापि विचाल्यते || २२ ||

yaṃ labdhvā cāparaṃ lābhaṃ manyate nādhikaṃ tataḥ | yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vicālyate || 22 ||

"Upon gaining this he thinks there is no greater gain. Being situated in such a position, one is never shaken, even in the midst of greatest difficulty."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna reveals the two ultimate psychological symptoms of the person who has reached this state. First, having attained and grasped this specific state (yaṃ labdhvā), the Yogi considers absolutely no other gain, profit, or achievement (cāparaṃ lābhaṃ manyate) to be greater or higher than it (nādhikaṃ tataḥ). Second, being firmly situated and anchored in this state (yasmin sthito), the Yogi is never shaken, moved, or displaced (na vicālyate)—not even by the heaviest, most severe, or catastrophic sorrow and tragedy (duḥkhena guruṇāpi).
