Krishna delivers one of the most visually stunning and universally recognized metaphors in spiritual literature. He states: Just as (yathā) a lamp (dīpo) situated in a place completely sheltered from the wind (nivāta-stho) absolutely does not flicker or waver (na iṅgate)—that exact comparison is remembered and used (sā upamā smṛtā) to describe the Yogi. Specifically, the Yogi whose mind is perfectly controlled (yata-cittasya) and who is steadily practicing the union and meditation of the Self (yuñjato yogam ātmanaḥ).
