Adhyāya 5 Shloka 7

योगयुक्तो विशुद्धात्मा विजितात्मा जितेन्द्रिय: | सर्वभूतात्मभूतात्मा कुर्वन्नपि न लिप्यते || ७ ||

yoga-yukto viśuddhātmā vijitātmā jitendriyaḥ | sarva-bhūtātma-bhūtātmā kurvann api na lipyate || 7 ||

"One who works in devotion, who is a pure soul, and who controls his mind and senses is dear to everyone, and everyone is dear to him. Though always working, such a man is never entangled."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna lays out the flawless, step-by-step architecture of the master. This person is yoked to Yoga (yoga-yukto). As a result, their intelligence/soul is completely purified (viśuddhātmā). Because the intellect is pure, they have fully conquered the mind (vijitātmā). Because the mind is conquered, they have fully controlled the senses (jitendriyaḥ). Achieving this, they realize that their own Self is the exact same Self existing in all living beings (sarva-bhūtātma-bhūtātmā). Because of this profound state, even though they perform massive actions (kurvann api), they are never tainted or entangled by them (na lipyate).
