sparśān kṛtvā bahir bāhyāṃś cakṣuś caivāntare bhruvoḥ | prāṇāpānau samau kṛtvā nāsābhyantara-cāriṇau || 27 ||

"Shutting out all external sense objects, keeping the eyes and vision concentrated between the two eyebrows, suspending the inward and outward breaths within the nostrils..."

The Direct Meaning

In Verses 27 and 28 (which form one continuous sentence), Krishna provides a highly technical preview of Ashtanga Yoga (the mechanical path of meditation). He outlines the physical setup: First, completely shut out and expel all external sense objects from the mind (sparśān kṛtvā bahir bāhyāṃś). Second, fix the physical vision and the mind's eye entirely in the center, between the two eyebrows (cakṣuś caivāntare bhruvoḥ). Third, equalize and suspend the flow of the incoming and outgoing breath (prāṇāpānau samau kṛtvā), keeping it restricted within the nostrils (nāsābhyantara-cāriṇau).
