Ch 4Verse 9
Adhyāya 4 Shloka 9

जन्म कर्म च मे दिव्यमेवं यो वेत्ति तत्त्वत: | त्यक्त्वा देहं पुनर्जन्म नैति मामेति सोऽर्जुन || ९ ||

janma karma ca me divyam evaṃ yo vetti tattvataḥ | tyaktvā dehaṃ punar janma naiti mām eti so 'rjuna || 9 ||

"One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna makes an astronomical promise regarding the power of spiritual knowledge. He declares that His birth (janma) and His actions (karma) are completely divine and transcendental (divyam). Anyone who truly knows and understands this in its absolute essence (evaṃ yo vetti tattvataḥ), achieves the ultimate goal. Upon giving up their current physical body at death (tyaktvā dehaṃ), that person will absolutely not take birth again in this material world (punar janma naiti). Instead, they come directly to Me (mām eti so 'rjuna).
