Ch 4Verse 41
Adhyāya 4 Shloka 41

योगसन्न्यस्तकर्माणं ज्ञानसञ्छिन्नसंशयम् | आत्मवन्तं न कर्माणि निबध्नन्ति धनञ्जय || ४१ ||

yoga-sannyasta-karmāṇaṃ jñāna-sañchinna-saṃśayam | ātmavantaṃ na karmāṇi nibadhnanti dhanañjaya || 41 ||

"One who acts in devotional service, renouncing the fruits of his actions, and whose doubts have been destroyed by transcendental knowledge, is situated factually in the self. Thus he is not bound by the reactions of work, O conqueror of riches."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna provides the exact antidote to the fatal disease of doubt described in the previous verse. He describes the triumphant Yogi: This person has renounced the binding fruits of action through the practice of Yoga (yoga-sannyasta-karmāṇaṃ). Their doubts have been violently slashed to pieces and destroyed by the sword of knowledge (jñāna-sañchinna-saṃśayam). Because they are firmly situated and anchored in their true Self (ātmavantaṃ), actions absolutely cannot bind or entangle them (na karmāṇi nibadhnanti), O Arjuna, conqueror of wealth (dhanañjaya).
