Ch 4Verse 14
Adhyāya 4 Shloka 14

"There is no work that affects Me; nor do I aspire for the fruits of action. One who understands this truth about Me does not become entangled in the fruitive reactions of work."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna expands on His claim of being the 'non-doer' (from Verse 13). He makes a profound statement of absolute immunity: Actions do not taint, smear, or bind Me (na māṃ karmāṇi limpanti). Furthermore, I have absolutely no craving, aspiration, or desire for the fruits of action (na me karma-phale spṛhā). Krishna then offers this immunity to the seeker: Anyone who truly recognizes and understands Me in this way (iti māṃ yo 'bhijānāti) is never bound by their own actions (karmabhir na sa badhyate).
