Ch 3Verse 29
Adhyāya 3 Shloka 29

प्रकृतेर्गुणसम्मूढा: सज्जन्ते गुणकर्मसु | तानकृत्स्नविदो मन्दान्कृत्स्नविन्न विचालयेत् || २९ ||

prakṛter guṇa-sammūḍhāḥ sajjante guṇa-karmasu | tān akṛtsna-vido mandān kṛtsna-vin na vicālayet || 29 ||

"Bewildered by the modes of material nature, those lacking complete knowledge fully engage themselves in material activities and become attached. But the wise should not unsettle them."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna reinforces the pedagogical rule introduced in Verse 26. He explains that people who are utterly bewildered by the modes of nature (prakṛter guṇa-sammūḍhāḥ) naturally become deeply attached to the actions and results of those modes (sajjante guṇa-karmasu). Because they possess only partial, fragmented knowledge (akṛtsna-vido) and are slow to grasp the Absolute (mandān), the one who possesses complete knowledge (kṛtsna-vin) must not unsettle or violently disturb their minds (na vicālayet).
