Ch 3Verse 26
Adhyāya 3 Shloka 26

न बुद्धिभेदं जनयेदज्ञानां कर्मसङ्गिनाम् | जोषयेत्सर्वकर्माणि विद्वान्युक्त: समाचरन् || २६ ||

na buddhi-bhedaṃ janayed ajñānāṃ karma-saṅginām | joṣayet sarva-karmāṇi vidvān yuktaḥ samācaran || 26 ||

"So as not to disrupt the minds of ignorant men attached to the fruitive results of prescribed duties, a learned person should not induce them to stop work. Rather, by working in the spirit of devotion, he should engage them in all sorts of activities."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna issues a strict pedagogical and leadership rule. A wise person (vidvān) must not create a division or disruption in the intellect (na buddhi-bhedaṃ janayed) of the ignorant (ajñānāṃ) who are still deeply attached to their actions and rewards (karma-saṅginām). Instead of telling them to stop working, the wise leader should seamlessly integrate and encourage them (joṣayet) in all their duties (sarva-karmāṇi) by performing those exact same duties themselves with a perfectly disciplined mind (yuktaḥ samācaran).
