Ch 2Verse 64
Adhyāya 2 Shloka 64

रागद्वेषवियुक्तैस्तु विषयानिन्द्रियैश्चरन् | आत्मवश्यैर्विधेयात्मा प्रसादमधिगच्छति || ६४ ||

rāga-dveṣa-viyuktais tu viṣayān indriyaiś caran | ātma-vaśyair vidheyātmā prasādam adhigacchati || 64 ||

"But a person free from all attachment and aversion and able to control his senses through regulative principles of freedom can obtain the complete mercy of the Lord."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna pivots from the destruction caused by uncontrolled senses (Verses 62-63) to the glory of the controlled mind. He states that a person whose mind is regulated (vidheyātmā) and whose senses are under their own control (ātma-vaśyair) can actually move among the objects of the senses (viṣayān indriyaiś caran). Because they are completely freed from attachment (rāga) and aversion (dveṣa), their interaction with the world does not bind them. Instead, they attain 'Prasādam' (profound tranquility, purity, and the grace of the Divine).
