Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna describes the turning point in the seeker's journey. He paints a vivid picture of the mind trapped in 'moha-kalilaṃ' (the dense, impenetrable forest of delusion/confusion). He promises Arjuna that 'yadā' (when) his intellect finally crosses over and out of this thicket, he will reach a state of 'nirvedaṃ' (indifference/dispassion). He will become totally indifferent to everything he has already heard (śrutasya) and everything he is yet to hear (śrotavyasya).
