Ch 18Verse 77
Adhyāya 18 Shloka 77

तच्च संस्मृत्य संस्मृत्य रूपमत्यद्भुतं हरेः | विस्मयो मे महान्राजन्हृष्यामि च पुनः पुनः || ७७ ||

tac ca saṁsmṛtya saṁsmṛtya rūpam aty-adbhutaṁ hareḥ | vismayo me mahān rājan hṛṣyāmi ca punaḥ punaḥ || 77 ||

"O King, as I remember the wonderful form of Lord Hari, I am struck with wonder more and more, and I rejoice again and again."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Sañjaya expresses his ultimate awe. Not only is he recalling the words, but he is also repeatedly remembering (tac ca saṁsmṛtya saṁsmṛtya) the incredibly astonishing and wondrous Universal Form (rūpam aty-adbhutaṁ) revealed by Lord Hari (Krishna in Chapter 11). Remembering this terrifyingly beautiful cosmic display strikes him with massive, overwhelming wonder (vismayo me mahān rājan) and causes him to rejoice again and again (hṛṣyāmi ca punaḥ punaḥ).
