Ch 18Verse 70
Adhyāya 18 Shloka 70

अध्येष्यते च य इमं धर्म्यं संवादमावयोः | ज्ञानयज्ञेन तेनाहमिष्टः स्यामिति मे मतिः || ७० ||

adhyeṣyate ca ya imaṁ dharmyaṁ saṁvādam āvayoḥ | jñāna-yajñena tenāham iṣṭaḥ syām iti me matiḥ || 70 ||

"And I declare that he who studies this sacred conversation of ours worships Me by his intelligence."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna extends the blessing to the student. He declares that anyone who carefully studies (adhyeṣyate) this sacred, righteous conversation between Himself and Arjuna (dharmyaṁ saṁvādam āvayoḥ) is actually engaging in a profound act of worship. Krishna considers this study to be a 'jñāna-yajña' (a sacrifice of knowledge), and by this intellectual sacrifice, He is worshiped and pleased (tenāham iṣṭaḥ syām). This is His firm conclusion (iti me matiḥ).
