Ch 18Verse 64
Adhyāya 18 Shloka 64

सर्वगुह्यतमं भूयः शृणु मे परमं वचः | इष्टोऽसि मे दृढमिति ततो वक्ष्यामि ते हितम् || ६४ ||

sarva-guhyatamaṁ bhūyaḥ śṛṇu me paramaṁ vacaḥ | iṣṭo 'si me dṛḍham iti tato vakṣyāmi te hitam || 64 ||

"Because you are My very dear friend, I am speaking to you My supreme instruction, the most confidential knowledge of all. Hear this from Me, for it is for your benefit."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Even after telling Arjuna to do as he wishes, Krishna's profound love as a friend compels Him to speak once more. He tells Arjuna to hear again (bhūyaḥ śṛṇu me) His supreme, absolute word (paramaṁ vacaḥ), which is the most deeply confidential and secret knowledge of all (sarva-guhyatamaṁ). Why is Krishna revealing the ultimate secret? Simply because Arjuna is very, very dear to Him (iṣṭo 'si me dṛḍham iti), and He only wishes for Arjuna's absolute benefit (vakṣyāmi te hitam).
