Aligning Consciousness

Ch 18Verse 57
Adhyāya 18 Shloka 57

चेतसा सर्वकर्माणि मयि सन्न्यस्य मत्परः | बुद्धियोगमुपाश्रित्य मच्चित्तः सततं भव || ५७ ||

cetasā sarva-karmāṇi mayi sannyasya mat-paraḥ | buddhi-yogam upāśritya mac-cittaḥ satataṁ bhava || 57 ||

"In all activities just depend upon Me and work always under My protection. In such devotional service, be fully conscious of Me."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna gives Arjuna his direct operational orders. He instructs Arjuna to consciously surrender all his activities unto Him (cetasā sarva-karmāṇi mayi sannyasya), making the Supreme Lord his ultimate goal and shelter (mat-paraḥ). By taking shelter of this intelligence and devotional yoga (buddhi-yogam upāśritya), Arjuna must keep his mind constantly and continually fixed on Krishna (mac-cittaḥ satataṁ bhava).
