Ch 18Verse 56
Adhyāya 18 Shloka 56

सर्वकर्माण्यपि सदा कुर्वाणो मद्व्यपाश्रयः | मत्प्रसादादवाप्नोति शाश्वतं पदमव्ययम् || ५६ ||

sarva-karmāṇy api sadā kurvāṇo mad-vyapāśrayaḥ | mat-prasādād avāpnoti śāśvataṁ padam avyayam || 56 ||

"Though engaged in all kinds of activities, My pure devotee, under My protection, reaches the eternal and imperishable abode by My grace."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna expands on the power of Bhakti. He states that even if a pure devotee is constantly engaged in all varieties of external activities (sarva-karmāṇy api sadā kurvāṇo), as long as they take complete shelter and protection in Him (mad-vyapāśrayaḥ), they are guaranteed to attain the eternal, imperishable spiritual abode (śāśvataṁ padam avyayam). How? Not by their own flawed effort, but purely by His divine grace (mat-prasādād).
