Ch 16Verse 20
Adhyāya 16 Shloka 20

आसुरीं योनिमापन्ना मूढा जन्मनि जन्मनि | मामप्राप्यैव कौन्तेय ततो यान्त्यधमां गतिम् || २० ||

āsurīṁ yonim āpannā mūḍhā janmani janmani | mām aprāpyaiva kaunteya tato yānty adhamāṁ gatim || 20 ||

"Attaining repeated birth amongst the species of demoniac life, O son of Kuntī, such persons can never approach Me. Gradually they sink down to the most abominable type of existence."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

The downward spiral accelerates. Having obtained demoniac wombs (āsurīṁ yonim āpannā), these foolish souls (mūḍhā) repeat this cycle birth after birth (janmani janmani). Because they are trapped in environments completely devoid of spiritual light, they fail to approach or realize Krishna (mām aprāpyaiva). Consequently, they gradually sink lower and lower to the most abominable, hellish destinations (tato yānty adhamāṁ gatim).
