Ch 15Verse 6
Adhyāya 15 Shloka 6

न तद्भासयते सूर्यो न शशाङ्को न पावकः | यद्गत्वा न निवर्तन्ते तद्धाम परमं मम || ६ ||

na tad bhāsayate sūryo na śaśāṅko na pāvakaḥ | yad gatvā na nivartante tad dhāma paramaṁ mama || 6 ||

"That supreme abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by fire or electricity. Those who reach it never return to this material world."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna describes the physical (or rather, spiritual) properties of His ultimate destination (tad dhāma paramaṁ mama). He states that this supreme realm does not require external sources of illumination—neither the sun (sūryo), the moon (śaśāṅko), nor fire/electricity (pāvakaḥ) illuminate it. Furthermore, He repeats the ultimate guarantee: once a soul reaches this self-luminous realm (yad gatvā), they never return to the dark, temporary material world (na nivartante).
