Krishna explicitly identifies Himself as that Supreme Entity described in the previous verse. Because He is completely transcendental to the fallible souls (kṣaram atīto 'ham) and simultaneously superior even to the liberated, infallible souls (akṣarād api cottamaḥ), He is celebrated everywhere—both in the material world (loke) and throughout Vedic literature (vede ca)—as the 'Puruṣottamaḥ' (the Supreme Person).
