Krishna makes a sharp distinction between two types of seekers. The 'yoginaś' (transcendentalists) who are sincerely endeavoring (yatanto) and properly situated in self-realization can clearly see the soul situated within (ātmany avasthitam). However, those who lack a purified mind (akṛtātmāno) and are devoid of true spiritual consciousness (acetasaḥ) simply cannot see (nainaṁ paśyanty) the reality of the soul and the modes of nature, even if they physically or intellectually endeavor (yatanto 'py) to do so.
