Krishna continues describing the behavior of the transcendent person. They sit 'udāsīna-vat' (like a neutral, unconcerned witness). They are completely undisturbed (na vicālyate) by the turbulence of the gunas. Their steadfastness comes from a singular, unshakeable realization: 'It is only the modes acting' (guṇā vartanta ity eva). Armed with this knowledge, they remain perfectly still (neṅgate).
