Ch 14Verse 2
Adhyāya 14 Shloka 2

इदं ज्ञानमुपाश्रित्य मम साधर्म्यमागताः | सर्गेऽपि नोपजायन्ते प्रलये न व्यथन्ति च || २ ||

idaṁ jñānam upāśritya mama sādharmyam āgatāḥ | sarge 'pi nopajāyante pralaye na vyathanti ca || 2 ||

"By becoming fixed in this knowledge, one can attain to the transcendental nature like My own. Thus established, one is not born at the time of creation or disturbed at the time of dissolution."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna specifies the exact result of mastering this upcoming knowledge. By taking shelter of (upāśritya) and becoming fixed in this wisdom, a soul attains a nature qualitatively identical to the Supreme Lord's (mama sādharmyam āgatāḥ). Once this state is reached, the soul becomes immune to cosmic cycles: they are not forced to take birth when the universe is created (sarge 'pi nopajāyante), nor are they destroyed or disturbed when the universe is annihilated (pralaye na vyathanti).
