Ch 14Verse 14
Adhyāya 14 Shloka 14

यदा सत्त्वे प्रवृद्धे तु प्रलयं याति देहभृत् | तदोत्तमविदां लोकानमलान्प्रतिपद्यते || १४ ||

yadā sattve pravṛddhe tu pralayaṁ yāti deha-bhṛt | tadottama-vidāṁ lokān amalān pratipadyate || 14 ||

"When one dies in the mode of goodness, he attains to the pure higher planets of the great sages."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna now explains the karmic trajectory at the moment of death based on which guna is dominant. If a person's body dies (pralayaṁ yāti) while the mode of goodness (sattve) is overwhelmingly predominant (pravṛddhe), they are elevated to the pure, spotless higher planetary systems (lokān amalān) where great sages and advanced beings reside.
