Ch 13Verse 28
Adhyāya 13 Shloka 28

समं सर्वेषु भूतेषु तिष्ठन्तं परमेश्वरम् | विनश्यत्स्वविनश्यन्तं यः पश्यति स पश्यति || २८ ||

samaṁ sarveṣu bhūteṣu tiṣṭhantaṁ parameśvaram | vinaśyatsv avinaśyantaṁ yaḥ paśyati sa paśyati || 28 ||

"One who sees the Supersoul accompanying the individual soul in all bodies, and who understands that neither the soul nor the Supersoul within the destructible body is ever destroyed, actually sees."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna defines what it means to 'actually see' (yaḥ paśyati sa paśyati). True vision is not based on 20/20 physical eyesight. True vision is seeing the Supreme Lord (parameśvaram) situated equally in all beings (samaṁ sarveṣu bhūteṣu). Furthermore, it is the profound realization that while the outer physical body is constantly dying and being destroyed (vinaśyatsu), the inner spiritual duo (the soul and Supersoul) are completely indestructible (avinaśyantam).
