Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Concluding the thought from Verse 6, Krishna makes an absolute guarantee to the surrendered devotee. He says: For those specific devotees whose consciousness and minds are fully absorbed and entered into Me (teṣām mayy āveśita-cetasām), O Partha, I Myself become (ahaṃ bhavāmi) their deliverer and rescuer (samuddhartā) very swiftly and without delay (na cirāt) from the deadly, terrifying ocean of repeated birth, death, and material existence (mṛtyu-saṃsāra-sāgarāt).
