Krishna further defines the psychological invulnerability of His devotee. He says: The one who never experiences manic jubilation or excessive rejoicing upon attaining something pleasant (yo na hṛṣyati), who never hates, despises, or resents anything unpleasant (na dveṣṭi), who never laments, grieves, or sorrows over loss (na śocati), and who never craves, hankers, or desperately desires that which they do not have (na kāṅkṣati). One who completely renounces and transcends the material duality of both auspicious/good and inauspicious/bad outcomes (śubhāśubha-parityāgī), and who is filled with pure devotion (bhaktimān yaḥ)—that specific person is exceedingly dear to Me (sa me priyaḥ).
