Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

The narrative perspective briefly shifts back to Sanjaya, who is describing the scene to the blind King Dhritarashtra. Sanjaya states: O King (rājan), having spoken in this manner (evam uktvā), immediately thereafter (tato), the great master of all mystic yoga and divine power (mahā-yogeśvaro), Lord Hari (Krishna, the remover of obstacles), showed and completely displayed (darśayāmāsa) to Arjuna (pārthāya) His supreme, majestic, and sovereign cosmic form (paramaṃ rūpam aiśvaram).
