Adhyāya 11 Shloka 43

pitāsi lokasya carācarasya tvam asya pūjyaś ca gurur garīyān | na tvat-samo 'sty abhyadhikaḥ kuto 'nyo loka-traye 'py apratima-prabhāva || 43 ||

"You are the father of this complete cosmic manifestation, of the moving and the nonmoving. You are its worshipable chief, the supreme spiritual master. No one is equal to You, nor can anyone be one with You. How then could there be anyone greater than You within the three worlds, O Lord of immeasurable power?"

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna states the absolute, unparalleled supremacy of Krishna. He declares: You are the ultimate father and generator (pitāsi) of this entire universe (lokasya), including all moving and non-moving entities (carācarasya). You are the most worshipable object (tvam asya pūjyaś ca) and the supreme, most weighty spiritual master and teacher (gurur garīyān). There is absolutely no one who is equal to You (na tvat-samo 'sty). Therefore, how could there possibly be anyone greater than or superior to You (abhyadhikaḥ kuto 'nyo), even within all the three planetary systems (loka-traye 'py)? O Lord of incomparable, immeasurable power and influence (apratima-prabhāva)!
